Whistlesmith Design Features: There have been several changes made that are on all models of whistle starting year 2005. I have made beveled edges standard on all whistle and fife parts that come in contact with your hands, such as collars, connectors, and whistle bottoms.

Whistle tubes will no longer be coated inside and a new mechanical method of masking is being used on all the colored whistles.

A new Soundstraw is being incorporated into the Hi-whistle keys that is easier to play than the previous ones and is very clear on the upper register. This same Soundstraw was developed for the Low D whistle and turns out to be very effective in reducing air turbulence in the mouthpiece.

The whistle decals have been redesigned to wrap around the whistle barrel and are now covered with clear aircraft marking material for protection.

Two new instruments are now available, the Mystic Auto Fife and the Mystic Auto Flute. These instruments are extremely fun to play, have a short learning curve, and have a most Mystical mouthpiece that solves the problem of practicing your fife and flute blowing technique.
Striping on the whistles and fifes has been coordinated with the natural pipe material colors to give a very classic look to the new line.

The adjustable, swiveling thumb ring has been modified to be stronger and technically better with new rivets, beveled thumb ring edges and recessed rivet seats. An air riveting machine will now be used to set the rivets on the thumb rings giving more precise results than hand riveting.

I have added new counter boring and reaming equipment to produce accurate joints and tuning slides. The new Mystic Auto Flutes and Fifes have tuning slides that allow the tone body to be taken apart and rotated to position the finger holes correctly.

A new floor model drill press with laser light positioning and cross vise has been added to the hole drilling section and a mini shaper is now making all the Soundstraws. This means parts and pieces can be made to specification easier and quicker and prices will stay fixed for this year.

Test marketing on eBay will continue throughout the year. Feedback from actual customers in a wide range of locations and interests is essential to make improvements that are useful to everyone. I am totally greatful to the many people that have gone out of their way to e-mail and call with suggestions.
